May 2019 Newsletter

Hello everyone and welcome to our May newsletter. Summer is finally here and we have some great volunteer roles for you. Remember – if your organisation would like new volunteers, contact us and find out how we can help.

National Volunteering Week will take place from 13th – 19th May 2019.  It is a whole week dedicated to highlighting volunteering. A great time to talk about what it means to be a volunteer, what volunteering looks like for different people, why people volunteer and even why people don’t volunteer. Find out more at National Volunteer Week

To celebrate National Volunteering Week, Monaghan Volunteer Centre staff and volunteers will be in Monaghan Shopping Centre from 10 until 6 on Thursday 16th May for our book sale in aid of Befriending Monaghan and Helping Hands. Drop in to pick up some bargain summer reading and have a chat with us.

Also in National Volunteering Week, we will be attending the Solas Drop In Centre’s “Tea & Talk” event on Tuesday 14th which will include a talk on stigma around mental health issues.

On the second Monday of each week we will be at Carrickmacross Library from 11.00 to 1.00. Next date 13th May. Drop in and find out more about volunteering and what we do.

Befriending Monaghan volunteers visit older people who would like some extra company for an hour per week. The service is now expanding to all of Co. Monaghan. Volunteers from across the county are very welcome to get involved. Castleblayney, Carrickmacross and Rockcorry volunteers are especially welcome at the moment as clients in these areas are waiting for befrienders.  Befriending Details
