Hello everyone and welcome to our February newsletter. Spring is coming and it’s a great time to think about a new volunteer role.  Below is just a small selection of what is available on our website at www.volunteermonaghan.ie

Monaghan United Football Club need a media and publicity volunteer to help with social media and website updates. https://sforce.co/2RXIz30

A role is available in Clones for a volunteer who knows how to use a knitting machine. https://sforce.co/2I64mVF 

Lollipop Day is the Oesophageal Cancer Fund’s annual fundraiser. It takes place on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd March and volunteers are needed to sell lollipops in locations around Co. Monaghan https://sforce.co/2G9ue02 

Castleblayney Community First Responders would welcome new members to train as volunteer first responders. Must live in Castleblayney area. http://bit.ly/2kTA2PB

The Cahans Project shop in Ballybay has an opportunity for a volunteer to get involved, only 3 hours per week required and they open Monday to Saturday. http://bit.ly/2tKhHvN

Foroige’s Big Brother, Big Sister volunteers act as mentors for teens. Each adult is paired with one teen and they spend about an hour a week together. Training provided. http://bit.ly/2ED4fOd

Scouting Ireland would like volunteers to help existing leaders with groups across Co. Monaghan. No experience needed, though if you were a scout or guide in your youth this could be a nice chance to brush up your skills! https://sforce.co/2CY5Sn8

Get your weekends off to a good start by volunteering with Monaghan Town parkrun on Saturday mornings. You don’t even have to run yourself unless you want to: http://bit.ly/2CHpMVA 

Does your organisation deliver training that would suit voluntary groups? Let us know and we will help promote it to them. Post a message on our Facebook page or email us and we will post it. E.g. First Aid, Child Protection, Data Protection, Manual Handling, Health & Safety, Communications. 

The HSE will run ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and SafeTalk training at various locations.  Contact us for details. 

We are running Garda vetting training in Castleblayney on 14th March. Suitable for any voluntary groups that need to start vetting or groups already vetting who want an update or have a new Garda Vetting officer. Contact us to book your free place.
