September 2018 Newsletter

It's time to bid farewell to summer and welcome Autumn and it's also time for our September newsletter! With the change in season often there is a change in life's tempo. If you find yourself at this time of year looking for a new challenge why not think about volunteering.


The National Council for the Blind have a new charity shop in Carrickmacross. It's a great shop which is well worth a visit. The shop is seeking volunteers. More here:


A Monaghan based community project for children is seeking volunteers to help at their breakfast club. More here:


Failte Isteach English conversation classes are in 5 locations around the County. Training for all new & existing volunteers will take place in the YWCA Monaghan, Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th September   


Helping Hands, the odd jobs service for older people is seeking new volunteers around the County and especially in Clones and Newbliss


The HSE has a number of courses happening locally over the next few weeks - Understanding Self Harm / safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training / ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) 


Big Brother Big Sister, which is a youth mentoring programme are having an information evening in Monaghan on the 20th September. More information here:

Leading Volunteers - Tip of the month 


Keep it social!


Some volunteers will get involved to meet new people and expand their social circle. Why not think about arranging a social event outside the regular volunteering - a night out, a lunch or coffee meet up, going walking together, a cinema / theater  night.
