Monaghan Volunteer Awards 2018

The 2018 Monaghan Volunteer Awards took place at the Garage Theatre in Monaghan on the evening of 20th September. It was attended by volunteers who had been nominated for one of the four awards, with their families and friends. The volunteers ranged in age from early teens to 80's and volunteer across a great range of activities. Guest speakers were Minister Heather Humphreys and Dessie Mone, Monaghan GAA player. Great entertainment was provided by a group of musicians from Fermanagh led by Sinéad Connolly, joined by musicians currently living at St. Patrick's Accommodation Centre.  Well done to all the nominees and winners and thanks to all who helped made it such a lovely occasion. 


Young Volunteer of the Year Conan O'Neill received his award from MID board member Fiona Duffy. 



Kathleen O'Hanlon received the Lifetime Achievement Award for 55 years of promoting water safety, as a swimming teacher and examiner. Kathleen is pictured with Minister Humphreys and MID CEO Gabriel O'Connell. 


The Volunteer Group of the Year Award went to the Solas Drop In Centre. 


The Volunteer of the Year award was shared between Alice Creagh and Gerry Murdock.
