2024 Co. Monaghan Volunteer Awards Open For Nominations
Monaghan Volunteer Centre and Monaghan Integrated Development launched the 2024 Co. Monaghan Volunteers Awards on Monday 19th August. The launch event took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan and was attended by the 2023 winners. It was a chance for Volunteer Centre staff to catch up with last year’s winners and hear about their most recent voluntary activities. The winners also handed back their perpetual trophies, ready to pass on to the 2024 winners. Pictured above are last year’s winners:
Volunteer of the Year: Fergal McMahon
Lifetime Achievement Award: Anne Jordan
Volunteer Group Award: the board of the Down Syndrome Centre North East (represented by Mary Hall, secretary of the board and Sinéad Fidgeon, board member)
These awards recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of volunteers and voluntary organisations across County Monaghan. There are three categories; Volunteer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and Volunteer Group of the Year. We hope to receive a broad selection of nominations from across the county to recognise both experienced volunteers and those who have taken up volunteering more recently. This year the winners will be announced at an event in the Iontas Theatre in Castleblayney on Sunday 6th October. All nominees will be invited and their contributions celebrated at the awards ceremony.
The awards have been held annually since 2007. Winners from the past few years have included volunteers from sports clubs, heritage groups, older peoples groups, disability groups and many more.
If you are involved with a non-profit organisation that involves volunteers, a nomination for the County Monaghan Volunteer Awards is a fantastic way to say thank you and show appreciation for their hard work and dedication. There will also be prizes to the value of €300 in each category. Individual winners will nominate a group they volunteer with to receive their prize. Each category winner will also receive a perpetual trophy and a plaque. All nominees will receive certificates.
