Welcome to our May Newsletter! This month we celebrate National Volunteer Week from Monday 16th -22nd of May, the theme for this year’s NVW is Celebrate Volunteers. Monaghan Volunteer Centre have organised two events for this year’s NVW a coffee morning in Monaghan Town and another in Carrickmacross, you will see details of these events below – we look forward to seeing you there!

Coffee Morning in Monaghan – Hosted by Monaghan Volunteer Centre Monaghan Volunteer Centre are hosting a coffee morning on Wednesday 18th May from 10am-12pm in Neighbourhood, Glaslough Street Monaghan. This is a chance for volunteers and organisations to meet up for a chat and discuss all things volunteering! Tea, Coffee and Treats will be served!

Do you live in Carrickmacross? Monaghan Volunteer Centre are holding a coffee morning in Carrickmacross library on Friday 20th May from 10am-12pm. You will be able to find out about volunteer opportunities in the area and meet some local organisations, we will also have a coffee trailer on site serving free tea & coffee

Volunteer Roles

Drumkill Day Care Centre provide day services for older people including those with mild dementia, they are currently recruiting for preparation assistants to help with their day service in Threemilhouse, you can read more about this role here https://bit.ly/39eEHbs

ALONE are looking for dedicated volunteers from all areas in Co. Monaghan to visit or phone clients at risk of social isolation, this is a very worthwhile and rewarding role https://bit.ly/3HkIUWi

Solas are a drop in centre offering support to people who may need it in Monaghan. They are delighted to be reopening after a long period of closure due to the pandemic, they need volunteers for their drop in centre in a number of roles, you can learn more about this role here  https://bit.ly/38qTSxX

HUGG are a national organisation that work with and support people who have been effected by suicide, they are currently looking for volunteer group facilitators in the County Monaghan Area, you can learn more about this role here https://bit.ly/32ogw6L

Spraoi agus Sport are recruiting for Social Buddy volunteers in County Monaghan. Social buddy Volunteers will be matched with clients who have an intellectual or learning disability and accompany them to an activity or social event in the afternoons. You can learn more here https://bit.ly/3N5IvKH

Failte Isteach is a community project involving volunteers welcoming migrants through free English Conversation classes. They are currently recruiting for volunteers in the Carrickmacross area, you can learn more here https://bit.ly/3w4szT5

Teach na nDaoine are getting ready for their 2022 Summer Camp and they are recruiting for volunteers. Volunteers will help to supervise children and with activities at the camp. This promises to be a fun and worthwhile role for volunteers, click here to learn more or apply https://bit.ly/3EQcbIB

Tip of the Month – Celebrate you volunteers!

During National Volunteer Week (16th-22nd May) why not celebrate your volunteers! Take some time out to have a chat and enjoy a cup of tea with your volunteers. This will give you the opportunity to discuss their role in your organisation and give them the space to get to know other volunteers.
