Welcome to our February Newsletter. Spring is around the corner, the days are getting longer and brighter and everything seems a bit more positive!
Training
We have a selection of training coming up during 2021, some online and hopefully some face to face later in the year. Let us know if there is a topic you are interested in and we will update you with dates & more details. In particular, one organisation has asked us to run our 2 day Volunteer Management Training. We need eight participants to run it so get in touch if you would like to know more. Here are the basics of what it includes: Training
Online Leisure Buddies
E-Leisure Buddies is an online programme for people with intellectual disabilities. The programme aims to reduce social isolation by running online hangout sessions for small groups. Volunteers wanted to host the hangouts. Volunteer from Home role. Leisure Buddies
Foróige – Big Brother Big Sister
Big Brother Big Sister Volunteers are asked to spend one or two hours per week with a young person. Participants are between the ages of 10-18 and are individuals who would benefit from developing a friendship with a caring adult outside of the family. Big Brother Big Sister
‘Our Generation’ Youth Project Support Volunteer
Are you interested in youth work? This is a cross border youth programme involving several regional partners including Monaghan. The aim of the programme is to promote personal development and positive mental health in young people. Our Generation
Befriending Monaghan
We support older people in County Monaghan who may be experiencing isolation. We are currently recruiting for a male volunteer in Castleblayney Befriending
Cairde
Calling all knitters, even beginners! The Cairde Activation Centre need you to knit cute bunnies & chicks for their Easter fundraiser. You can even just knit squares & let Cairde assemble them into the bunnies. Cairde
MID Programme of the Month
The Coh-Sync Community Health Project has a range of free online courses such as art, wool felting, yoga and mindfulness on offer to adults living in County Monaghan or border regions. Tip of the Month: Organise your Spring Clean
With Spring comes new beginnings, why not make a positive change this year and devote some of your time to volunteering or now might be the time to organise a spring clean in your volunteer organisation. What training do your volunteers needs? Do your policies and procedures need updated? Have you volunteer roles in your organisation that need developed or promoted? Monaghan Volunteer Centre are available for support – our office may be closed but our phones & laptops are on!
